Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company is an American insurance company based in Columbia, South Carolina (USA). It was founded in 1937 and incorporated as Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company (the legal name to this day) in 1939. The company was bought by Unum in 1993, which was subsequently bought by Provident in 1999 (they merged to become UnumProvident, of which Colonial is a subsidiary). Currently, Colonial operates in 49 states, the District of Columbia. While it supports business sold in Puerto Rico, it no longer sells there.

The brand identity is Colonial Supplemental Insurance, and the company's tag line is "for what happens next".
